2. Leea philippinensis Merr. in Philip. Journ. Sci. 1. Suppl.: 89 (Fl. Lamao. For. Res.) 1906; Lu in Fl. Taiwan 3: 681. 1977. 菲律賓火筒樹

A shrub or small tree, with glabrous pinnate leaves. Leaves 20-50 cm long, simply pinnate; leaflets 5-13, glabrous, apex long-acuminate, coarsely crenate-dentate; petiolules about 1 cm long; cymes up to 10 cm long, pubescent or puberulent, about 20 cm across but often much smaller; calyx green, ovoid; petals oblong-ovate, acute, glabrous, yellowish or greenish-white and sometimes tinged with pink. Fruit brown, glabrous, about 1.5 cm thick, 1 cm long, depressed globose, wrinkled when dried; seeds 3-4, subglobose, about 6 mm across, glabrous.

The Philippines. In Taiwan, known only from Is. Lanyu and Lutao.

TAITUNG: Is. Lanyu, Keng et al. 151; Is. Lutao; Chang 4070.

This species, apparently consistently with simply pinnate leaves, can be readily distinguished from Leea sambucina by its obovoid buds and long-acuminate leaflets, and from L. manillensis by its greenish flowers.
