A shrub, more or less spiny; branchlets grayish, silvery-lepidote when young. Leaves thin-chartaceous, obovate, 3-4 cm long, 1.4—1.8 cm broad, acute, attenuate at base, entire, silvery scaly at first, soon glabrous and becoming very dark, dull, densely appressed silvery lepidote beneath, without brown dots, the midrib impressed above, raised beneath, the lateral veins about 5 per side, indistinct above, slightly raised beneath, the reticulations obsolete; petioles 3-4 mm long, sulcate, silvery lepidote. Fruit 2-4-fasciculate, axillary, ellipsoid, 7-8 mm long, about 2 mm thick, more or less ribbed, densely silvery lepidote; pedicels 3—4 mm long, silvery lepidote. Endemic. Known from a single collection in northern Taiwan.

TAIPEI: Hibino & Ko s. n. in 1938.

This species is distinctly characterized by the small obovate leaves, which are very dark above and silvery-white beneath, without the presence of any brown spots. The obovate leaves are readily distinguished from those of the common and widespread E. oldhamii, as they are thin, acute at apex, strongly discolored on the two surfaces, and without brown spots.
