1. Cuphea cartagenesis (Jacq.) Macbrids 克非亞草
A woody herb, up to 40 cm tall; stems terete, covered with sticky glandular hairs. Leaves opposite, rarely one side of leaf reduced, petiolate, the petioles 1-5 cm long, 1-1.5 cm broad, acute at apex, membranaceous, strigose on both surfaces, the lateral veins of 4-5 pairs. Flowers axillary, solitary; calyx-tube tubular, 8-ridged, with 6 teeth, about 5 mm long, covered with sticky glandular hairs; corolla obovate, pink, clawed; stamens 11; ovary glabrous, ovate-elliptic. Capsules elliptic, about 4 mm long; seeds 5-6, broadly obovate, compressed, yellowish brown, about 0.8 mm long, winged.
Tropical America, but naturalized in Taiwan and Okinawa. Taiwan widely scattered on the wet lowlands.
