3. Ammannia multiflora Roxb. 多花水莧菜
An annual herb; stems erect, 4-angled, short branched; leaves spreading, broadly linear to lanceolate-oblong, 2.5-5 cm long, 3-12 mm wide, acute to subobtuse; flowers few, in dense sessile axillary cymes, the pedicels about as long as the flowers; calyx obconical, obscurely 4-angled, the lobes deltoid; petals minute, whitish; stamens 4; capsules globose, red-brown, half-exserted from the calyx; styles distinct, the stigmas rather thickened; seeds rninute, brown. Tropics and subtropics of Africa, Asia, Australia, Japan and Taiwan. Taiwan, widely distributed in the wet places of lowlands, especially in paddy fields.
