10. Rhododendron morii Hayata 森氏杜鵑
A small tree to 10 m, wide-spreading; branchlets stout, floccose-tomentose, soon glabrous. Leaves thickly coriaceous, crowded at top of the branchlets, oblong-lanceolate, 6-12 cm long, 2.5-3.0 cm broad, the apex acute or shortly acuminate, often apiculate, the base obtuse to subrounded, the margins entire, recurved, the upper surface dark green, glabrous, the lower surface glabrous, floccose-tomentose along the costa, the costa strongly raised beneath, the secondary veins indistinct; petioles 1.5-2.5 cm long, floccose-tomentose. Flowers umbellate-racemose; pedicels about 1 cm long, glandular-hairy; calyx 5-dentate, glabrous; corolla white, purplish dotted, campanulate, 3-4 cm long, 5-lobed, the lobes spreading, rounded; stamens 10, unequal, the filament glandular below; ovary and base of style hispid-pubescent. Capsules cylindric, about 2 cm long, 5-6 mm across, slightly pubescent to glabrescent.
Endemic. In forests of the central mountain range between 1,650-3,500 m.
