2. Vaccinium dunalianum Wight var. caudatifolium (Hayata) Li　珍珠花

Shrubs or small trees; young branchlets pubescent. Leaves thick coriaceous, elliptic, 5-8 cm long, 2.5-3.5 cm broad, apex acute to acuminate, base acute to attenuate, entire, glabrous, lateral veins ca. 3 pairs, strongly ascending, inconspicuous; petiole stout, ca. 3 mm long, puberulous. Racemes axillary, ca. 7 cm long, glabrous; pedicel ca. 5 mm long, articulate; calyx lobes lanceolate, glabrous; corolla campanulate, ca. 5 mm long, shallowly 5-lobed; stamens ca. 11, anthers spurred, filaments villous at base; ovary glabrous, 5-celled, style exserted; ovules 2 in each cell. Fruit a globose berry, scarlet, glaucous, ca. 8 mm across, many seeded.

The typical variety in northwestern India and western China. The variety endemic to Taiwan in broad-leaved forests on high mountains, sometimes epiphytic.
