5. Rotalia rotundifolia (Wallich ex Roxb.) Koehne 水豬母乳
An erect herb, glabrous, simple, rarely branched, up to 30 cm high; branches purplish-red or green. Leaves opposite, sessile or subsessile, elliptic to obovate-elliptic or orbicular, 1.3 cm long and wide, rounded at apex, narrowed to base. Terminal spikes reddish-purple, up to 8 cm long, bracteate, the 2 bracteoles lanceolate, more or less equal to the calyx-tube; calyx-tube obconical, enclosing the capsule, the calyx-lobes 4, triangular, acuminate to acute at apex; corolla 4-petals, the petals broadly elliptic or ovate, longer than calyx-lobe; stamens 4; carpels 4. Seeds ellipsoidal, less than twice as long as wide.
Tropical Asia to Japan. Taiwan, marshes, streamsides, and paddy fields in the lowlands.
