4. MICROTROPIS Wallich ex Meissner. 假衛矛屬

Evergreen trees or shrubs; branchlets glabrous. Leaves opposite, petiolate, estipulate, entire, coriaceous. Flowers in cymes or fascicled, pedunculate, axillary; sepals 4-5, persistent; petals 4-5, confluent with the disc or on the edge, the filaments short; disc conspicuous, cupular; ovary free, ovoid, 2-celled, the style short, the stigma 4-lobed; ovules 2 in each locule. Fruit a capsule, oblong, 1-celled, 2-valved, 1-seeded. About 70 species in India, Malaysia, China, Japan and in Central America and Mexico. Two species in Taiwan.
