8. Euonymus spraguei Hayata　刺果衛矛

Scandent or epiphytic shrubs. Leaves elliptic or broadly elliptic, 4-6 cm long, 2.5-3.5 cm wide, coriaceous or subcoriaceous, obtuse at the apex, acute at the base, serrulate, the lateral veins indistinct and flat or canaliculate beneath; petioles 3-5 mm long. Cymes axillary, usually 5 cm long; peduncles glabrous; 1-1.5 cm long. Capsules broadly globose, about 5 mm across, sparsely long spined or rarely glabrous, the spines recurved, about 2 mm long, green when mature.

Endemic. At low to medium altitudes of the island.思源埡口、菜公坑山(稜脊)、關原(松林步道)、墾丁公園、昆陽、宜蘭鷹石尖。

CHIAYI: Yushan, Kawakami & Mori 1721 (Type of E. spraguei).
