6. Trichosanthes rosthornii Harms 中華括樓

A perennial glabrescent vine. Tendrils 2-5-fid. Leaves chartaceous, more or less symmetrical, ovate to suborbicular, usually palmately (3-)5-7-lobed, 6-12 cm long, 5-10 cm wide, acute at the apex, cordate the base, mucronulately-toothed at the margins, punctate-pubescent above, glabrescent beneath; petioles 2-4 cm long. Flowers white, bracteolate, staminate flowers racemoses or single flowered, pistillate flowers solitary; perianth tube 2-4 cm long; calyx segments linear-lanceolate, 10-15 mm long; corolla lobes obovate, 10-15 mm long. Fruits orange-yellow at maturity, globose to oblong, 8-11 cm long, 7-10 cm wide, smooth; seeds compressed, ovate-oblong, marginate.
