5. TETRASTIGMA Planch. 崖爬藤屬

Evergreen or deciduous climbing shrubs; tendrils with adhesive tips. Leaves alternate, pedately 5-foliolate or sometimes reduced to 3- or 1-foliolate. Flowers 4-merous, polygamo-dioecious, in axillary or rarely leaf-opposed cymes or umbels, repeatedly or tri- to di-chotomous; petals expanding, often with mucronately corniculate apex; disc adnate to the base of ovary, more or less enlarged in fruit; ovary 2-celled, cells 2-ovuled; style very short, stigma dilated, 4-lobed or 4-parted, lobes irregularly lacerate. Berry with 2-4 seeds each; seeds ovoid-globose, convex on the back and sulcate on the central side. About 40 species in tropical and subtropical Asia; four species in Taiwan. KEY TO SPECIES
