1. AMPELOPSIS Mich. 山葡萄屬

Deciduous shrubs, climbing by tendrils; branches more or less nodose, tendrils twining, without disc-like tips, opposite to the leaves. Leaves alternate, simple or compound. Flowers perfect, small, greenish, in long-peduncled dichotomous cymes opposite to the leaves, or terminal, 5-merous, rarely 4-merous; calyx indistinct, subentire; petals expanding; disc cupular, with its base adhering to the ovary; stamens short; ovary 2-celled, entire or crenulate on the margin, style slender, subulate, stigma undivided; ovules 2 in each cell. Fruit a 1-4-seeded berry; seeds ovoid, smooth, with a very short beak. About 20 species in N. America, C. and E. Asia; two species in Taiwan.
