4. Passiflora suberosa Linn. 三角葉西番蓮

A perennial climbing herbs with axillary tendrils, stems more or less finely pubescent. Leaves alternate, pubescent, 3-fid, lobes ovate-triangular, 5.5-7 cm long, 6-8.5 cm wide; petioles with a pair of glands near the base; stipules linear or subulate. Flowers axillary, usually in pairs; pedicels 1-2 cm long, bracteolate; sepals 5, oblong-linear, 6-8 mm long; corolla wanting; outer coronal threads recurved, green, yellowish near the tip, 2-3 mm long; gynophore about 4 mm long; stamens 5, the basal half united into a tube, surrounding the style, the upper half free, radicallly spreading under the styles; styles 3, slender; stigma capitate. Berry ellipsoid, black-purple when mature, 1-1.2 cm in diameter.

Native of South America. In Taiwan, widely naturalized in lowland areas, or hedges, brushwoods or in open fields.
