2. Calophyllum blancoi Planchon　蘭嶼胡桐

Tree 5-40 cm tall; bark yellowish or dark gray-brown with lines of lenticels or boat-shaped fissures; branches smooth, 4-angled when young, glabrescent, becoming yellow. Leaves glabrous, with petioles 10-14 mm long, flattened to concave towards apex but not broadening; lamina 4.7-25 cm long, 1.8-8.2 cm broad, elliptic to obovate, apex rounded or shortly obtusely acuminate, base cuneate, coriaceous, concolorous, with lateral nerves more or less prominent on both surfaces. Inflorescences terminal and/or axillary, paniculate, 5.5-8 cm long, thinly ferrugineous-pubrulent; flowers (bisexual ?) in bud globose or cylindric-ellipsoid, pedicels 8-10 mm long, ferrugineous-pubrulent; tepals 8-16, outer ca. 7 mm long, ca. 5 mm broad, oblong-elliptic, subcoriaceous, rugose, margin ferrugineous-puberulous, inner semipetaloid retalid, obovate 5-25 mm long, 2-15 mm broad; stamens in 4 obscure fascicles, anthers 0.5-2 mm long; ovary 1.5-5 mm long, globose. Drupe ovoid to subglobose, 1.25-2.2 cm long, 1-1.7 cm broad, thinnish pericarp wrinkled; stone ellipsoid to subglobose.

South Taiwan, to the Philippines and NE. Borneo.

TAITUNG: Lanyu Is. (Botel Tobago), Chang 2737 (Type of C. changii, TAI).

Calophyllum blancoi is a variable species; the Taiwan form also occurs on Luzon.
