1. Sarcopyramis napalensis Wall., Tent. Fl. Napal 32. t. 23. 1824.
A flesh herb, simple or sparingly branched, up to 15 cm tall; leaves opposite ovate to lanceolate-ovate, 2-5 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, the apex acuminate to obtuse, the margin dentate-ciliate with a bristle on the apex of tooth, erect stiff hairs on both surfaces; petioles 8-20 mm long. Flowers 1-3; calyx 2-3 mm long, the lobes 4, rectangular, the apex with 2 horn-like hairs; petals 4, obovate, 3-4 mm long; stamens 8, equal, filament-appendage about the half length of anther; stigma capitate. Capsule rectangular, opening by 4 valves at the top; seeds numerous, tuberculate on the surface, with expansive raphe.
Southern China and Taiwan; Taiwan in the northern and central part on shaded, moist place at altitude 100-1,000 m.

A fleshy herb, simple or sparingly branched, up to 15 cm high. Leaves broad ovate to lanceolate-ovate, 1-3 cm long, 1-2 cm wide, the apex obtuse, the margin dentate-ciliate with a bristle on the apex of tooth, stiff hairs on both surfaces; petioles 10-28 mm long. Flowers 1-3; calyx 5 mm long, the lobes 4, triangular, the apex with 5-7 horn-like hairs; petals 10-14 mm long, obovate; stamens 8, equal, the filament with short appendage or obscure; style about 4 mm long. Capsule hemispheric, 4-5 mm long, opening by 4 valves at the top. Seeds numerous, tuberculate on the surface, with narrow raphe.
The Philippines, southern China and Taiwan; Taiwan through the whole island at altitudes from 300 m to 2,800 m high.

小草本，纖細，高5-12釐米，具匍匐莖，無毛。葉片紙質，卵形或橢圓形，頂端鈍或急尖，基部鈍、圓形或近楔形，長1.2-3釐米，寬0.8-2釐米，邊緣具疏淺波狀齒，齒間具小尖頭，3-5基出脈，葉面被疏糙伏毛，基出脈微隆起，側脈不明顯，綠色或紫綠色，有時沿基出脈及側脈呈黃白色，背面通常無毛，有時沿側脈具極少的糙伏毛，通常呈紫紅色，極稀為綠色，基出脈與側脈隆起；葉柄長3-11毫米，無毛，具狹翅。聚傘花序，頂生，有花1-3朵，稀5朵，基部具2枚葉狀苞片，苞片通常為倒卵形，被毛，總梗長0.5-3（-4）釐米，花梗長1-3毫米，常四棱形，棱上具狹翅；花萼長約3毫米，具四棱，棱上有狹翅，頂端增寬而成垂直的長方形裂片，裂片背部具刺狀尖頭，有時邊緣微羽狀分裂；花瓣紫紅色至粉紅色，寬卵形，略偏斜，長3-4毫米，頂端急尖；雄蕊內向，花藥黃色，近頂孔開裂，藥隔基部伸延成短距，距上彎，長為藥室的1/2左右；子房壇狀，頂端具膜質冠，冠簷具波狀齒。蒴果通常白綠色，杯形，具四棱，膜質冠長出萼1倍；宿存萼與花時無異。花期5-7月，果期10-12月或翌年1月。 產四川、貴州、雲南、廣西。生於海拔1000-2450米的山谷密林下，蔭濕的地方或石縫間。模式標本采自貴州貴陽黔靈山。
1b．东方肉穗草 var. delicate (C. B. Robins.) C. Chen
本变种与前者的主要区别是，叶通常较小，长1-1.5厘米，宽0.7-1.2厘米或长可达5厘米，宽2.5厘米；花大，萼管长约5毫米，萼片三角形，长1.5毫米，边缘具2-3条裂，裂片长约1.5毫米；花瓣长7-8毫米，椭圆形。
产我国福建、台湾，见于中海拔地区密林下。菲律宾也有。
