3. Eurya crenatifolia (Yamamoto) Kobuski 假柃木
Shrub, branchlets slender, hirsute. Leaves coriaceous, obovate-oblong or elliptic, 1-2 cm long, 0.5-1 cm wide, apex obtuse or rounded, base cuneate to obtuse, margins crenate-serrulate, revolute, glabrous above, slightly pilose to glabrous beneath, midrib sulcate above; petioles 1-1.5 mm long. Flowers axillary, 2-3in fascicle; bracteoles 2, subrounded, glabrous; male flowers: sepals 5, imbricate, unequal in length, rounded, 0.7-1.5 mm in diam., slightly pilose or glabrous, petals 5, obovate, 1.5-2 mm long, glabrous; stamens 5, basifixed, 0.8 mm long, filaments very short, anthers 0.5 mm long; female flower: styles 0.5 mm long, 3-fid. Fruits globose, 2.5-3 in diameter.
Endemic, in the northern and eastern parts at medium altitudes (700-2,300 m).

钝齿柃 Eurya crenatifolia Yamamoto
灌木;嫩枝纖細,圓柱形,灰褐色,被柔毛,小枝灰褐色或灰白色,無毛或幾無毛;頂芽細錐形,漸尖,疏被柔毛。葉革質,橢圓形或倒卵狀長圓形,長1-2.5釐米,寬0.8-1.5釐米,頂端銳尖,尖頭鈍,並有微凹,基部楔形或闊楔形,邊緣有鈍鋸齒,稍反卷,上面綠色,下面淡綠色,兩面無毛或下麵初時沿中脈上略被柔毛,迅即脫落而無毛,中脈在上面凹下,下面凸起,側脈5-7對,在上面不明顯或略凹下,在下面凸起;葉柄長1-1.5毫米,無毛或幾無毛。花1-3 (-4)朵簇生於葉腋,花梗長1.5-2毫米,無毛,雄花:小苞片2,卵形或近圓形,細小,疏被短柔毛;萼片5,卵形或近圓形,長1-1.5毫米,頂端圓或鈍,無毛,邊緣也無纖毛;花瓣5,倒卵形或卵圓形,長約1.5毫米;雄蕊5枚,花藥不具分格,退化子房無毛。雌花的小苞片和萼片與雄花同;花瓣5,卵形,長約1.5毫米;子房圓球形,3室,無毛,花柱長約1毫米,頂端3深裂幾達基部。果實圓球形,直徑約3毫米;種子每室1-4個,腎形,略扁,深褐色,表面具細蜂窩狀網紋。
產於我國臺灣臺北、宜蘭、太平山、花蓮等地;多生於海拔1300-2300米的山地林下或疏林中。模式標本采自臺灣Pianan山。

Shrubs. Young branches grayish brown to grayish white, glabrous; current year branchlets terete, pubescent; terminal buds sparsely pubescent. Petiole 1-1.5 mm, pubescent or glabrescent; leaf blade elliptic to obovate-oblong, 1-2.5 × 0.8-1.5 cm, leathery, abaxially pale green and glabrous or sparsely pubescent along midvein when young, adaxially green and glabrous, midvein abaxially elevated and adaxially impressed, secondary veins 5 or 6 on each side of midvein, abaxially raised, and adaxially obscure to slightly impressed, base cuneate to broadly cuneate, margin crenate-serrate, apex acute and with an obtuse to retuse tip. Flowers axillary, solitary or to 4 in a cluster. Pedicel 1.5-2 mm, glabrous. Male flowers: bracteoles ovate to suborbicular, ca. 0.5 mm, outside sparsely pubescent; sepals ovate to suborbicular, 1-1.5 mm, glabrous, apex obtuse to rounded; petals obovate to ovate, ca. 1.5 mm; stamens 5; anthers not locellate; pistillode glabrous. Female flowers: bracteoles and sepals similar to those of male flowers; petals ovate, ca. 1.5 mm; ovary globose, glabrous, 3-loculed; style ca. 1 mm, apically 3-parted. Fruit globose, ca. 3 mm in diam., with 1-4 seeds per locule. Seeds dark brown, reniform. Fl. Feb-Mar, fr. Jun-Sep.
