The above record, the only one as yet from Taiwan, was only the third for the species as a whole. The Taiwan material matches the type specimen from Silhet (Khasya) well. Since the publication of the first edition, T. breviflorum has been recorded from several southern provinces of China, from Yunnan to Jiangsu and Zhejiang. The Japanese species (T. japonicum (Blume) Makino) differs from T. breviflorum in several characters, e. g., leaf-shape, inflorescence form and petal color (pinkish).
