2. Ilex asprella (Hook. & Arn.) Champ.　燈稱花

A small deciduous shrub, densely branched; branchlets glabrous. Leaves thin-chartaceous, ovate, 4-5 cm long, 1.5-2.5 cm broad, hirsute on the nerves above, nearly glabrous beneath; petioles 3-5 mm long. Flowers in axillary umbels with slender pedicels. Drupe ellipsoid, 5 mm long, 4 mm across, the pyrenes rough, with stony endocarp.

Luzon, S. E. China. Taiwan, in thickets, at low altitudes throughout the island.
