20. Ilex tugitakayamensis Sasaki 雪山冬青

An evergreen tree; branchlets robust, glabrous. Leaves coriaceous, elliptic, 10-14 cm long, 3-5 cm broad, the apex shortly acuminate, the veins elevated on both surfaces, the margins entire; petioles 2-2.5 mm long. Inflorescens densly pilose. Flowers in axillary cymes; pedicels 2-3 mm long. Drupe globose, 5 mm across, the stigma navel-like: pyrenes 4-6, the endocarp smooth.

Endemic. In central mountains at medium altitudes (1500-2500 m).

HSINCHU: Tapachienshan, Lu 13457. TAICHUNG: Hsuehshan, Shimada 2538 (Type coll). TAITUNG: Bahyuchyr, Lu 13019.

常綠；小枝光滑；冬芽被絨毛。葉革質，長橢圓至長橢圓狀披針形，長10-14 cm，寬3-5 cm，先端短漸尖，銳頭，全緣，光滑；葉柄長2-2.5 cm。聚繖花序，被絨毛；花萼下表面被毛。果球形，直徑約5 mm。

特有種，中央山脈中海拔森林中。

Endemic. Known from the type collection only.

TAICHUNG: Hsuehshan, Shimada 2538 (Type coll).
