1. Gonocaryum calleryanum (Baill.) Becc.　柿葉茶茱萸

A small evergreen tree. Leaves alternate, thickly coriaceous, orbicular to broadly ovate, 8-10 cm long, 5-7 cm broad, shortly acute at apex, rounded at base, entire at margins, glabrous, shining dark green above, yellowish green beneath, the lateral veins 4-6 per side, ascending, raised on both surfaces; petioles stout, 1-2 cm long. Racemes short, spiciform, several in a fascicle, few flowered; flowers sesssile or short pedicellate (to 2 mm long), bracteolate; sepals 6, rounded, about 2 mm long; corolla cylindric, about 5 mm long, 5-lobed at top; stamens 5, the anthers sessile; ovary 1-celled, 2-ovuled, 1.5 mm long, shortly hirsute. Fruit an ovoid to ellipsoid drupe, 3.3-5 cm long, 2-2.2 cm thick, purplish.

The Philippines (Luzon and Batan Islands). Taiwan, in forests on coral rocks, Hengchun Peninsula, rare.
