4. Rhamnus kanagusuki Makino 變葉鼠李
A low shrub, less than 30 cm high; young branchlets hairy, often spinose. Leaves thick-chartaceous, elliptic to obovate-elliptic, 0.3-1.3 cm long, 2-6 mm wide, obtuse or shortly acute at apex, acute to obtuse at base, entire or 2-4-toothed, slightly hairy above, glabrous or pubescent in vein axils beneath, lateral veins 2-3 per side, inconspicuous above; petioles 1-2 mm long, pubescent, stipules subulate. Flowers solitary or few-fasciculate, yellowish green; calyx-lobes triangular, 2 mm long, 1 mm wide, glabrous; style ?2-fid; ovary about 1 mm across. Fruit globose, 5 mm across, purplish dark when ripe.
