2. Ampelopsis cantoniensis (Hook. & Arn.) Planch.
Large climber, glabrous throughout. Leaves variable, simple-pinnate with 3-5 leaflets or bipinnate with the lower pinnae bearing 3-5 leaflets each and the upper ones consisting of a single one; leaflets ovate or ovate-oblong, coarsely dentate, subcoriaceous, shortly petiolulate or subsessile, obtuse, round or cordate at base. Cymes corymbose, dichotomous, pedunculate; petals 5, spreading, disk cup-shaped. Berry obovoid-globose, 1-2-seeded. Eastern Asia from India, Indo-China to southern China, Japan and the Ryukyus. Taiwan, abundant at low altitudes throughout the island. Plants referred to this species in Taiwan can be divided into two varieties as follows.
2a. var. cantoniensis. 廣東山葡萄
Leaves 10-20 cm long, more or less glaucous beneath. Cymes usually long-pedunculate.
Eastern Asia. This variety is abundant at low altitudes in Taiwan.

Vitis leecoides Maxim. Mel. Biol. 9: 148. 1837.
Leaves larger, 20-30 cm long, pale and reticulate beneath. Cymes shortly pedunculate.
Japan and the Ryukyus. This variety is found in the northeastern part of the island, rare.

13. 廣東蛇葡萄 Ampeiopsis cantoniensis(Hook. & Arn. )Planch.
木質藤本。小枝圓柱形，有縱棱紋，嫩枝或多或少被短柔毛。捲鬚2叉分枝，相隔2節間斷與葉對生。葉為二回羽狀複葉或小枝上部著生有一回羽狀複葉，二回羽狀複葉者基部一對小葉常為3小葉，側生小葉和頂生小葉大多形狀各異，側生小葉大小和葉型變化較大，通常卵形、卵橢圓形或長橢圓形，長3—11釐米，寬1. 5—6釐米，頂端急尖、漸尖或驟尾尖，基部多為闊楔形，上面深綠色，在擴大鏡下常可見有淺色小圓點，下麵淺黃褐綠色，常在脈基部疏生短柔毛，以後脫落幾無毛；側脈4—7對，下面最後一級網脈顯著但不突出；葉柄長2—8釐米，頂生小葉柄長1—3釐米，側生小葉柄長0—2. 5釐米，嫩時被稀疏短柔毛，以後脫落幾無毛。花序為傘房狀多歧聚傘花序，頂生或與葉對生；花序梗長2—4釐米，嫩時或多或少被稀疏短柔毛，花軸被短柔毛；花梗長1—3毫米，幾無毛；花蕾卵圓形，高2—3毫米，頂端圓形；萼碟形，邊緣呈波狀，無毛；花瓣5，卵橢圓形，高1. 7—2. 7毫米，無毛；雄蕊5，花藥卵橢圓形，長略甚於寬；花盤發達，邊緣淺裂；子房下部與花盤合生，花柱明顯，柱頭擴大不明顯。果實近球形，直徑0. 6—0. 8釐米，有種子2—4顆；種子倒卵圓形，頂端圓形，基部喙尖銳，種臍在種子背面中部呈橢圓形，背部中棱脊突出，表面有肋紋突起，腹部中棱脊突出，兩側窪穴外觀不明顯，微下凹，周圍有肋紋突出。花期4—7月，果期8—11月。
產安徽、浙江、福建、臺灣、湖北、湖南、廣東、廣西、海南、貴州、雲南、西藏。生山谷林中或山坡灌叢，海拔100—850米。模式標本采自香港。
本種葉形、大小變化甚大，甚至有時在同一植株上部小枝上小葉較小，下部小枝的小葉較大，因此過去一些學者在標本室中把具有大葉的標本鑒定為羽葉蛇葡萄 A. chaffanjoni(Lévl. & Vant. )Rehd. ，把小葉者鑒定為本種，但不同於前者在於，花軸被短柔毛，葉下面淺黃褐色，最後一級網脈清晰可見但並不突出，葉片上面在擴大鏡下有淺色小圓點，頂生小葉大多比側小葉寬且為倒卵形，種子窪穴不明顯，僅微下凹。
