Perennial herb; rhizome erect to ascending, rather thin, usually with stolons rooting at ends and producing dense rosettes of leaves and flowers. Leaves 1-3 cm long, 1-2.5 cm broad, ovate or elliptic, broadly cordate at base, rounded or obtuse at apex, crenate on margin, narrowly long-decurrent on petiole, hirsute above, nearly glabrous beneath, herbaceous; petiole 1-7 cm long. Stipules 5-14 mm long, 1-2 mm broad, linear-lanceolate to lanceolate, acuminate at apex, sparsely fimbriate-laciniate on margin, partly adnate to the petioles. Flowers 15-20 mm across, pale purple to almost white with dark violet veins on the basal petal; peduncle 4-17 cm long, slender, twice to fourth times as long as petioles; sepals 5-8 mm long, 1-1.5 mm broad, linear-lanceolate to linear, acute at apex, sparsely fimbrio-ciliate on margin; appendages up to 0.5 mm long, rounded, fimbrio-ciliate; petals obovate, the basal shortest, acute at apex, lateral ones beardless; spurs 1-1.5 mm long, obtuse; styles ca. 2 mm long, geniculate at base, clavate distally, with two lateral lobes at apex and anterior stigmatic beak. Capsules 5-6 mm long, ellipsoid, glabrous. Seeds ovoid, 1-1.2 mm long. Chromosome number n=24.

Leaves triangular-ovate to lanceolate, acute at apex, hirsute on both surface; sepals sparsely ciliate to almost entire on margin; lateral petals bearded. Chromosome number n=24.
