2. Trichosanthes homophylla Hayata 芋葉括樓

A perennial robust scabrous to hirsute vine. Tendrils 3-5-fid. Leaves chartaceous, more or less symmetrical, ovate to oblong, 7-15 cm long, 4-8 cm wide, acute to acuminate to apiculate at the apex, cordate at the base, entire and slightly undulate at the margins with irregularly mucronulate-teeth, scabrous above, hirsute beneath; petioles 2-3 cm long. Flowers white, bracteate, staminate flowers racemoses or rarely single flowered; perianth tube 2-3 cm long, calyx segments linear, 5-6 mm long; corolla lobes obovate, 1-2 cm long. Fruits oblong, 7-10 cm long, 6-8 cm wide; seeds compressed, ovate-lanceolate, rugulose, marginate.

Taiwan and Ryukyu. Taiwan, in the mountain area at altitude of 800-2500 m.
