1. Astronia formosana Kanehira　大野牡丹

A small tree; branches glabrous. Young leaves rusty along main veins beneath and becoming rusty tomentose when mature. Leaves 3-nerved, elliptic, acuminate at apex, obtuse at base, entire at margin, 9.5-18 cm long, 4-7.2 cm broad; petioles 10-26 mm long; leaf scars distinct, circular or triangular-circular. Inflorescence terminal cymose; peduncles about 3cm long; calyx 1.5-2 mm long, 5-dentate at the apex; petals 5, about 1 mm long; stamens 8, equal; ovary inferior, style stout. Fruit capsular, ovoid, 3-4 mm across, 2-3 mm long. Seeds numerous, linear, 2-4 mm long.

Endemic, in the southern part of Taiwan, islands Lanyu and Lutao; in forest, forest margin at altitude 300-500 m.

1.褐鱗木　Astronia ferruginea Elmer

大灌木或小喬木，樹皮深褐色，無毛；小枝四棱形，多少被微柔毛或糠批。葉片堅紙質或革質，橢圓形或近倒卵形，頂端急尖或近漸尖，基部楔形或廣楔形，長8.5-12釐米，寬4-7釐米，全緣，3基出脈，葉面無毛，基出脈下凹，側脈及細脈微凸，背面密被微柔毛及糠秕，脈隆起，細脈網狀，平整；葉柄長2-3釐米，多少被糠秕。由聚傘花序組成的圓錐花序，頂生，長約10釐米，寬約12釐米，多花，密被糠秕及微柔毛；花梗長1-3毫米，與花萼均被糠秕；花萼鐘形，長1.5-2毫米，裂片5，廣三角形，長約0.5毫米；花瓣5，廣卵形，頂端急藥隔膨大，較藥室大2-3倍，無距；子房近球形，頂端平截，無冠，花柱長約1毫米。蒴果近球形，頂端平截，為宿存萼所包；宿存萼直徑3-5毫米，頂端平截，邊緣不整齊；種子線狀披針形，長約2毫米。

產我國臺灣。生於海拔200-400米的山間林中。菲律賓也有。
