19. Ilex sugerokii Maxim. var. brevipedunculata (Maxim.) S. Y. Hu　 太平山冬青

A small evergreen tree; branchlets glabrous. Leaves elliptic or ovate-elliptic, 2-3.5 cm long, 1-2.2 cm broad, the apex acute, the margins serrate or crenulate toward the upper part or nearly entire; petioles 5-7 mm long. Flowers in axillary umbels. Drupe globose, 5-7 mm in diameter; pyrenes 6; fruiting stalk 0.4-1.5 cm long.

The species occurs in Japan, the variety in Japan and in northern and central parts of Taiwan.

灌木或小乔木, 高5米; 幼枝具纵棱及槽, 被微柔毛, 老枝变无毛, 具半圆形凸起的叶痕及椭圆形皮孔. 叶生于1—4年生枝上, 叶片厚革质, 椭圆形或卵状椭圆形, 长2—3.5厘米, 宽1—2.5厘米, 先端钝或急尖, 基部钝或阔楔形, 边缘上部具疏锯齿, 下半部全缘, 叶面绿色, 干时橄榄绿色, 具光泽, 除沿主脉被微柔毛外, 无毛, 主脉在叶面凸起, 在背面平坦, 无毛, 侧脉4—5对, 两面不明显; 叶柄长4—7毫米, 上面平坦, 被微柔毛. 雄聚伞花序, 单生于当年生枝的叶腋内, 具3花, 总花序约1厘米, 花梗长2—5毫米, 近顶部具小苞片1枚或无, 被微柔毛; 花萼盘状, 直径约2.5毫米, 4—6深裂, 裂片三角形, 具长缘毛; 花冠白色, 辐状, 直径5--6毫米, 花瓣长圆形, 基部稍合生; 雄蕊短于花瓣; 退化子房卵球形, 急尖或具短喙. 雌花单生于当年生枝的叶腋内, 花梗长1.2—1.5厘米, 近中部具1或2枚小苞片; 花萼4—6深裂, 裂片具长缘毛; 花瓣长圆形; 退化雄蕊长为花瓣3/4, 不育花药长圆状箭头形; 子房卵球形, 柱头盘状. 果球形, 直径7—8毫米, 成熟后暗红色; 果梗长1.3—1.5厘米, 无毛; 宿存花萼平展, 直径约3毫米, 具缘毛, 宿存柱头盘状. 分核4—6, 长圆形, 长约3.5毫米, 宽约2毫米, 平滑, 无条纹, 亦无沟, 内果皮革质. 花期7月, 果期8—10月.

产于我国台湾北部和中部; 生于海拔2200米以上的山地林内. 分布于日本. 模式标本采自台湾的苗栗 (Bioritsu) (T. Kawakami & U. Mori in 1908).

本变种与原变种 (var. sugerokii) 的主要区别为本变种的果梗较短, 长1.3—1.5 厘米. 而原变种之果梗长2—3.5厘米.

An evergreen shrub; young branchlets minutely puberulent. Leaves sub- coriaceous, suborbicular-oblong, 1.5—3 cm long, 1 — 1.6 cm broad, the apex acute, the margins entire, the veins evident beneath; petioles 7—9 mm long. Flowers axillary, solitary; pedicels 1.1—1.4 cm long. Drupe unknown.

Endemic. Taiwan, known only from the northern parts.

葉全緣，雄花叢生第二年生枝條，雌花1-3枚，繖形花序。
